Fry文笔好又有幽默感。此书妙趣横生。他回忆剑桥时期的初恋Kim Harris，两三笔就把一个聪明自负贵族少年写得活灵活现，还附带照片变着花样夸人家长得帅。然后上网一查发现这位Harris先生如今年过七旬、双目失明、罹患AIDS。岁月真是一把杀猪刀……
