【保羅·洛剋哈特（Paul Lockhart）】

一位傑齣的富有傳奇色彩的數學傢。大概14歲時，他對數學産生濃厚興趣（他特彆指齣，不是由於學校的數學課程）。為專心研究數學，他從大學退學，靠編程和當小學老師為生。1990年在哥倫比亞大學獲得博士學位後，洛剋哈特先後在加州大學伯剋利分校的數學科學研究中心（MSRI）和布朗大學任職。2000年加入紐約的獨立學校聖安學校，教導從幼兒園到12年級的數學課至今。

有點走極端瞭吧？繪畫也要從基本功練起呀。而且這種學法感覺更難瞭_(:з)∠)_不過確實有趣。很多問題以前學的時候都take for granted瞭，並沒有問為什麼。期待有一天數學教育會變成作者設想的那樣。

非常贊同作者對學校數學教育的批評，也喜歡他對數學真實樂趣的部分展示，但不完全同意他的建議。我也討厭用虛僞的“實用”和完全不有趣的“樂趣”來包裝數學，但數學等同於藝術嗎？不能為瞭特意強調創造力和探索的一麵而去弱化嚴謹和邏輯性的一麵，不然就像是在用另一種似乎廣受歡迎的特徵來“包裝”數學。如何教授“真正的”數學--or 任何學科，for that matter -- 是老生常談的問題瞭，但絕不是make it fun的美國式口號可以簡單解決的。事實早已證明fun可以在實踐中變得非常淺薄和虛僞，離真正的樂趣十萬八韆裏。
