The pace didn't quite work for me as it dragged midway through and the drastic turn toward the end came from nowhere. Once again bewitched by the author's ability to use seemingly simple words and an utterly detached tone to bring readers to tears. And, it has the most wonderful description about a pear I've ever read in any book, given the circumstances around the scene. "Those who carry a knife and a pear are never afraid of the dark."

dull for me

不能因为读了Pi而忽略了B&V也是一部极为精彩的小说

完全不亚于少年派。整个过程有人说无趣，但是我想说如果你不知道结局那种好奇会始终让你继续下去，就不会觉得过程无聊了。以这种形式来写大屠杀，感觉可读性比辛德勒的名单强很多（PS：辛德勒的方舟的作者来学校开了个讲座，好无聊的说……）

还没有正式出版的中译本，只看了英文版，很多细节没看懂。不过觉得还是很像少年Pi这本书的风格啊，很多隐喻。结尾的突转运用也很好。米兰昆德拉的那句关于记忆的名言挺契合这本书的。 书还是有点晦涩吧。正准备读第二遍。如果能看到更多的关于这本书的分析就好了。
