These photographs of Vietnam reveal a complex country not often seen by outsiders. Under the layers of friendship lies the tension of politics; under beauty lies violence; under the starkly-portrayed faces of remote villagers is the economic need drawing them to the city, and under the remnants of war is an artistic bohemia struggling with new freedoms and continued censorship.
