Matthew Lopez is the author of The Whipping Man (Luna Stage Company, Manhattan Theatre Club), The Legend of Georgia McBride (Denver Center for Performing Arts; Manhattan Class Company, Geffen Playhouse), Somewhere (The Old Globe, Hartford Stage), Reverberation (Hartford Stage Company), and Zoey's Perfect Wedding (Denver Center for the Performing Arts). In London, he was represented in Headlong Theatre's 9/11 Decade anthology with his short play The Sentinels.

半部經典。閱讀體驗和觀劇體驗相似，上半程笑到最後開始忍不住淚水，下半部故事太多反而有些抽離。但我覺得還是對自己的身份和族群有瞭更強的歸屬感和責任感。

Paperback版本是在Noël Coward Theatre演的劇本，所以內容比Kindle的更多一些，Kindle上的是在Young Vic演的劇本。推薦這個版本！

讀完的感受和當時看完When We Rise和The Normal Heart類似，甚至和讀的那本Edmund White的The Married Man有共通之處，總之是看完頭腦轟鳴，眼淚不止

去年從倫敦西區買迴來的劇本，復活節假期宅在傢兩個下午+晚上讀完。非常喜歡，非常感動。《霍華德莊園》的人物和故事被巧妙的轉化和嵌套進這個2010年代紐約同誌圈的故事裏。87年艾滋病潮過去30年後當今的紐約，特朗普當選/進入特朗普時代背景下的 gay community 的生活與生存、愛與掙紮，上下兩部7小時的史詩結構，這是我們當下2010年代版本的《天使在美國》。而對30年前的大流行病災難的重新審視和反省，在新冠病毒全球肆虐的今天，讀起來有著更加深切的體會。《霍華德莊園》裏的栗子樹和這部戲裏的櫻桃樹下都種瞭豬牙，傳說/迷信的承繼，是對未來生活嚮往的延續。無論何時，真正可以一直繼承下去的“遺産”，是愛的能力和重新開始的信念和勇氣。”Welcome home, Eric.”

在西区直到下映也没去看因为一直对西区的戏/review over hype的戏感到犹豫（之前踩雷太多…）再加上时长问题不想sit through seven hours and feel like having wasted my time。直到听了编剧在yv podcast的访谈谈queer culture被commodify化谈self education等等当时就觉...
