Jack leads a rather routine life as a "deconstructionist, " destroying old works of art, until his beloved son contracts a rare disease. Jack must now somehow learn to lie if, as he comes to believe, lying is the only way to give young Toby enough hope to effect a cure.

James Morrow was born in 1947. He has lectured and taught and worked in the fields of magazine publishing and television, as well as writing for children.
