作者是在法国工作的美国人，作为 low-context 国家出身的她，非常善于将复杂的观念表达得简单易懂，中国、日本、墨西哥都是 high-context 的国家，这点如果翻译为中文可能会很难理解，高语境以为着交流中更多会出现模糊的暗示信息，极其依赖语境与谈话用词来揣度真正的说话用意，也就是需要听者有更多「read the air」能听出「言外之意」的能力。书中对于各个国家合作起来的抱怨之词也很有趣，当英国人抱怨法国人，法国人抱怨巴西人太懒散、太不尊重原则的时候，德国人抱怨全世界的人太懒散、太不尊重原则，因为德国人是高度尊重原则与时间规划的民族哇。

非常好的针对职场文化差异的讨论和总结。很好的架构，用8个维度来解释不同国家的职场人在沟通合作方面的差异和矛盾：高语意沟通与低语意沟通，关系信任与任务信任，层级管理与民主管理，直接反馈与间接反馈，原则说服与应用说服，协商决定与高层决定，直接否定与避免冲突，守时与灵活。记住这些有利于在跨文化沟通的时候更自如，但是不要轻易尝试作为外国人使用对方的文化，尤其是在直接批评与反馈方面。

作者从跨文化的商业合作切入，谈到不同文化在若干个方面的差异。我却感觉这种文化差异性实际存在于每个人身上，不仅限于人种的区别。最大的反思和收获就是，开始思考：其实并没有哪一种文化一定就是最好的，每种文化的形成都有其特定的背景。就像鱼感觉不到水存在一样，我们常常主观的以自己的文化视角看待别人。谦卑和宽广的胸怀是解决这个问题的关键。当你意识到你有疾病的时候，你的病已经好了一半了。
