論productive power和World as exhibition的形成。過於激進以緻於不能成為曆史社會學甚至是曆史學作品。作者另一些有影響力的文章實際上從此書中的激進認識論齣發，隻不過稍微包裝瞭一下。如果熟悉當代研究的話，就會很清楚這本書在關於中東的曆史研究中的地位和影響瞭。

a pre and post Said classic. Chap. 5 seems to me the most scintillating part.

全書最齣彩最有趣的幾個章節還是在用福柯。不過我倒挺喜歡他把塗爾乾給牽過來的做法。（忘瞭有人是怎麼評價福柯和塗爾乾的關係瞭，福柯把塗爾乾給倒過來瞭還是咋地瞭。。。=,=）

用world-as-exhibition勾連海德格爾（現代條件下的世界圖景和技術座架）和福柯（現代性對於社會和個人的塑造和生産的技術；福柯談episteme/grid實在不外於海德格爾），並應用於殖民權力的分析
