著者简介

Peter Hessler is a staff writer at The New Yorker, where he served as the Beijing correspondent from 2000 to 2007, and is also a contributing writer for National Geographic. He is the author of River Town, which won the Kiriyama Prize; Oracle Bones, which was a finalist for the National Book Award; and, most recently, Country Driving. He won the 2008 National Magazine Award for excellence in reporting, and he was named a MacArthur Fellow in 2011. He lives in Cairo.

纪实系列的第五本。看这本书的时间拖得太长了，有点懈怠。整体印象是细致，诚恳，幽默和讽刺！身在局中久了，难免一叶障目。局外人才能比较客观地评价和质疑。而我们自己也需要正视和珍惜身边的美！

Damn it's been around 20 years since the first edition came out...Even a Chinese like me found the mindsets of people at that time bizarre to some extent. What massive changes have taken place all over the nation... Yet some problems, or say the national ethos, remain unchanged, such as the pragmatism, the sole focus of life on earning money, etc.

比起《寻路中国》, 我更喜欢《江城》. 无论如何, 《江城》是何伟的亲身经历和感受, 一个外国人如何适应接受一个陌生的环境. 《寻路中国》的何伟也许更"中国通", 太客观的描写制造了距离, 而描述的生活在我这个中国人看来又很平常.
