著者简介

史景迁，世界著名汉学家，现任美国历史学会主席。1936年生于英国，曾受教于温切斯特大学和剑桥大学。1965年获美国耶鲁大学博士学位，现为耶鲁大学教授。史氏以研究中国历史见长（从他取名蕴含景仰司马迁之意可见他对此专业的热爱）。他以独特的视角观察悠久的中国历史，并以不同一般的“讲故事”的方式向读者介绍了他的观察和研究结果，他的作品敏锐、深邃、独特而又“好看”，命名他在成为蜚声国际的汉学家的同时，也为成学术畅销书的写作高手。

（大二、中国近代史）因为是必读所以买回来看，非常厚，听说已有台版。详细，全面，读的也较为费劲。

这书是高中时候历史老师给我们读的。厚厚一本的英文书，真的和板砖一模一样。很多美国顶尖大学也用这书做历史书。这书主要是叙述，却一点儿不冗长。真的读进去却觉得时间过得飞快。Spence笔法精妙，学术考究，不愧是耶鲁大学的教授。是非常好的学习中国近代史的材料，满分推荐。

向Queenie借的英文版。主要看了建国后那一段，不要指望能看到多少精彩的论述，总体而言比较平实，就是一本教科书。

大家自己看看是什么译者，看到大陆版的书，想把他掐死，史景迁的大名就被这人毁了，我网上看到的台版，感觉太麻烦了，是竖排，又是繁体，就去图书馆查了查，还有这书，大陆版的，就预借了。等一个星期，打开一翻，气死我了，要不是图书馆的，我就把它扔洗手间了。

断断续续的，花了十几天时间，终于将史景迁的《追寻现代中国》看完了，史景迁是英国人，美国教授，大名Jonathan D.spence，著作等身，因景仰中国古代史学家司马迁而取了个“史景迁”，显然，他是深得太史公老先生之衣钵真传的，在国产史学煌煌巨著越来越变得面目可憎不忍卒读之...
