著者简介

怀尔德在美国文学史上有着特殊的地位，他是唯一同时荣膺普利策戏剧奖和小说奖的美国作家。作为剧作家，他更是与尤金•奥尼尔、阿瑟•米勒、田纳西•威廉斯齐名，并称为美国四大现代戏剧家。怀尔德为美国现代戏剧的灵魂人物与先驱，被誉为“二十世纪美国最后一位寓言家”。

怀尔德家族与中国缘分深厚。他的父亲曾任美国驻华总领事，怀尔德曾在烟台念过书。因此，他的作品中常常展现出带有中国气息的哲思，如因果、平凡是真、活在当下。

译者但汉松，1979年生于湖北咸宁，文学博士，现任职于南京大学英文系，业余从事文学翻译和书评写作，译有托马斯•品钦《性本恶》，书评散见于《书城》《南方周末》《三联生活周刊》等媒体，目前主要为《纽约时报中文网》从事“读读小说”专栏的写作。
