著者简介

V.S.奈保尔（V.S.Naipaul）：

英国著名作家。1932年生于特立尼达岛上一个印度移民家庭，1950年进入牛津大学攻读英国文学，毕业后迁居伦敦。

50年代开始写作，著有《米格尔街》、《斯通先生与骑士伙伴》、《自由国度》、《河湾》、“印度三部曲”、《非洲的假面剧》等。2001年，荣获诺贝尔文学奖。

No idea why this book is highly rated in Douban, but I can't have sympathy with any of the character in the book.

叙事模式很容易让人联想起Winesburg, Ohio，但更圆融与素朴。通过奈保尔之眼，读Miguel Street 上的人们的生活，总有点“眷恋凄怆”的意思。

An unexpectedly delightful read. It's exotic but also universal. These people, u have so many reasons not to like them, they even constantly degrade themselves, yet u would think there's so much in common, and u start to feel for them before u even realize it. It seems that these people are pitiable, somehow, u just can't leave them behind. Amazing
