Joseph H.Silverman 擁有哈佛大學博士學位，日前為布朗人學數學教授，之前曾任教於麻省理工學院和波士頓大學。1998年，他獲得瞭美國數學會Steele奬的著述奬，獲奬著作為《The Arithmetic of Elliptic Curves》和《Advanced Topics in the Arithmetic of Enlliptic Curves》。

寫得真好阿…第一次見到把一些“平日鋪陳在講義裏”理所當然的theorem (like Wilson theorem)放在習題裏讓你自己推的數論書，完全更新瞭我認為數學書寫得好的標準：躺在宿捨地毯上不帶紙筆愜意地翻看完兩三個chapter後能迴到書桌前不往迴翻地順利做題
